The Fretlight Guitar

Some amazing technology is being created for guitars. Gibson has their self tuning robot guitars, and here is a guitar that can hook up to your computer and the notes light up on the fretboard to show patterns, scales, chords, even entire songs.
It's very fascinating and is a great use of new technologies and innovations. Now it they could put this fretboard on a Parker. Dream.

Ruby's are red and shred isn't dead.

Schecter Hellraiser C-7 FR

This thing just looks great. It's unlike anything out there from the rich red color, abalone binding all around the body and headstock, cool inlays, EMG pickups and 7 strings. Bring on the thunder!

Schecter seems to be making some really great products for the headbangers out there and their catalog is rich with so many varieties, they must be doing something right. It will cost about $999 clams, but the build quality is supposed to be superb. Also, if you want to skip the binding and go for a flat finish with a maple fretboard, the Loomis model may be your weapon of choice.

Check them out at Schecter's web site.

New Ibanez 7 strings

I keep on the lookout for what's new in seven string guitars and Ibanez announced a few new ones at NAMM.

The Ibanez RGA7
This model is not bad. I really like the archtop Ibanez guitars, however this is the only RGA seven stringl that Ibanez dipped their toe into. No trem version and no other colors available. I hope they make a version with an edge III and flame top.

Ibanez RGD2127Z

I really like the looks of the new RGD series. This one is a prestige model, it comes with an Edge Zero bridge, and any color you want as long as it's black. It seems that Ibanez is a little frightened of color with their sevens.

Unfortunatley, this is all the excitement that Ibanez came out with this year. I hope to see more options and more color options. Also the RGD line could have so much more potential if they release non-prestige seven string models.

Agile Interceptor Pro 727

The Rondo Music company makes some cool instruments. I love the Agile Interceptor Pro 7 string models and would like to try out sometime soon.
This particular hot rod is an extended scale at 27" and contains EMG pickups, licensed floyd rose tremolo, neck through construction, quilted maple top, ebony fretboard and grover tuners.
From what I read on sevenstring.org and youtube reviews, it's a quality instrument at around $700 clams. They are distributed by Rondo Music and the company keeps costs down by not using third party distribution or producing signature models or other extra added promotional costs. The company is also known for listening to their user base and continues to refine the designs over the years to gain customer satisfaction. It seems to be working.

They also produce a number of Les Paul and Fender style guitars. But the more metal, the better. :)
